We’re having a major AHA moment—alpha hydroxy acids, that is!

What is AHA? Derived from various plant sources and from milk, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) are potent acids that help to gently dissolve the bonds of dead skin cells on the surface, making way for visibly smoother, brighter skin. They’re water-soluble, so they don’t penetrate deep below skin’s surface, but can help reduce the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and dark spots. AHAs are essentially a dream for most skin types. While examples of AHAs include citric, mandelic and lactic acids, the most famous one is probably glycolic acid.
